Election results indicate that Broome County Undersheriff Fred Akshar has soundly defeated former DMV Commissioner Barbara Fiala in the special election in Senate District 52. Rev. Jason J. McGuire, Executive Director of New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms PAC (NYCFPAC), made the following remarks:
“NYCFPAC is pleased that Fred Akshar’s convincing margin of victory demonstrates that Southern Tier voters have rejected the big-government approach represented by Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his handpicked State Senate candidate, and that voters have instead embraced Akshar’s vision of jobs, opportunity and economic growth. Senator-elect Akshar’s victory may also reflect Upstate New York’s fervent and ongoing opposition to Gov. Cuomo’s misguided SAFE Act gun grab. NYCFPAC looks forward to working with Senator-elect Akshar on common-sense legislation that will enhance the lives, families, and freedoms of all New Yorkers.”
Although NYCFPAC-endorsed Lucretia Regina-Potter did not prevail in her bid for the 46th Assembly District, NYCFPAC congratulates Regina-Potter for stepping up to the plate and running the race with bold and principled stands.
