Election Day 2016 is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. In addition to voting for the next President of the United States, eligible voters will elect 34 Members of the U.S. Senate and all 435 Members of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Here in New York, voters will choose one U.S. Senator, 27 Members of the U.S. House of Representatives, all 63 Members of the New York State Senate, and all 150 Members of the New York State Assembly. New York voters will also vote for county and municipal officials and various trial court judges.
Our organization is hearing from many Christians unhappy with their ballot choices this November. Nonetheless, followers of Jesus Christ have a responsibility to be wise stewards of the liberties God has entrusted to our care. Voting to choose one’s governmental leaders is a right that most of the world can only dream about. The choices made by American voters on Election Day will have far-reaching consequences on the national, state, and local levels. Believers should be an influence on this process. As we do each year, NYCF exhorts Christian New Yorkers to be active, informed participants in the electoral process.
