Senator Jim Tedisco: I’m 100% Pro-Life!

It’s becoming a pattern. As we near this important Election Day on Tuesday, November 6, pro-abortion activists are desperate to take over our government and suppress the pro-life vote. They’re seeking to sow confusion among the voting electorate. Take for example, this account from the Capital Region.

On November 1, 2018, an article from the Times Union incorrectly stated that Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C,I, REF-Glenville) was in favor of the Reproductive Health Act (RHA), a radical bill, being promoted by Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Senate Democrats, that would:

  • Eliminate the requirement that abortions be performed only by licensed physicians;
  • Take abortion-related crimes off the books in cases where pregnant women miscarry after being assaulted;
  • Unambiguously establish a state-law right to abortion after more than 24 weeks’ gestation when the abortion is “necessary to protect the patient’s life or health” (which, based on court decisions, would allow late-term abortion for any reason at all); and
  • Repeal existing protections for viable babies born alive following late-term abortions.

Sen. Tedisco personally reached out to New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms PAC to correct the record. Tedisco has voted against the Reproductive Health Act and says that he will continue efforts to keep it from coming to the Senate floor for a vote.  Tedisco says, “I’m one hundred percent pro-life. I’ve always had a pro-life voting record—and I always will.” This is consistent with other media reports, where Mr. Tedisco refers to himself as a “pro-life” elected official.

However, supporters of Sen. Tedisco’s liberal Democratic opponent are circulating a hastily made flyer thanking him for his “newly found pro-choice position.” Sen. Tedisco’s position on life and the RHA hasn’t changed. His opponents are simply trying to cause confusion.

New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms PAC warns voters in the 49th Senate District to beware of an attempt to use inaccurate reporting as an attempt to smear the Senator’s strong record on the sanctity of human life.

On Election Day, let’s support conservative, pro-life candidates who will help defend the unborn from late-term abortion bills, like the one being promoted by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, pro-abortion Democrats and their partners at Planned Parenthood.
